Breaking Bad: Box Cutter

(**SPOILER ALERT**) Breaking Bad might be the show that best tackles 9/11 America. In season 3, the plane collision hung over the town, while Walt and Jesse rose above the guilt for their role. Season 4 opens with a truly arresting scene in the lab, where the weapon of choice reflects the weapon we theorize was used to take over the passenger jets by the hijackers on September 11th.

The ultimate trip movie of this era is not a spacey reflection on evolution and space, but a kinetic assault on the senses.

Michael Windship at Salon looks at the growing income disparity between corporate management and, well, everyone else. I find the argument that massive growth in executive compensation can be justified by the fact that companies are larger and more complex coming up short. Wouldn’t that mean that the jobs of the people who work the company are more complex and larger in scope as well?
